Benefit to Joints

Ultra Shake combines powerful antioxidants and healthy fatty acids to ensure healthy joints.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are a major help in fighting free radicals, which may be damaging to joints and can contribute to joint discomfort. Antioxidants include vitamin A (or beta carotene and other carotenoids), vitamin C, and vitamin E and selenium. An easy way to remember these is the acronym ACES. Ultra Shake has all four  ACES and is a  powerful weapons for combating free radicals. Some of our ingredients with ACES include:

  • Vitamin C – Fruits such as raspberries and pineapples, as well as vegetables such as broccoli
  • Vitamin E – Chia seeds and peanut butter

Fatty Acids

Certain fatty acids are protective by nature and can reduce swelling and discomfort in joints. The most common types of fatty acids are omega-3s. Ultra Shake provides a mega dose of Omega 3 in every shake!

Apples

An apple a day can help keep arthritis at bay. It’s rich in quercetin, an antioxidant that’s important in building collagen and slowing its deterioration.

Raw apples have much more quercetin than processed fruit, Cornell University scientists reported in Nutrition Journal in 2004. Reds have the most, and the deeper the hue, the better. (Quercetin is concentrated in the skin, so don’t peel the fruit.)

Broccoli

A cousin of kale in the brassica family, broccoli is a winner for sulforaphane. This chemical may reinvigorate the body’s defenses against free radicals, UCLA researchers reported in 2008 in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. Those defenses decline as we age, raising the risk of osteoarthritis and other joint problems.

Broccoli also has the alphabet soup of vitamins that keep joints well nourished – A, a bunch of Bs, C, a little E and K – not to mention lots of calcium and some protein.
